US Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited Tampa and cited Katie's case when he announced that the federal government was increasing their initiatives to pursue drug dealers and fight the opioid epidemic.
Katie's case was the spark that changed police policies and procedures and created new case law. Now, overdoses are investigated as potential homicides and the path is paved so dealers can be charged with murder and go to prison. Justice for Katie took over 5 years.
Check out this great video of Katie's piano recital.
